Accessible through the homonymous grant, the VivaMente Conference in the History of Ideas is devoted to furthering the debate on the most important topics in intellectual history.
It owes its name to the Latin motto viva mente (“with a lively mind”) and to the Italian expression vivamente (“profoundly”, “keenly”, “with energy”) as we expect our events to be as intellectually stimulating as dynamic.
The scheme has attracted to Pisa the best scholars discussing such themes as Medicine in the Philosophy of Descartes, the contemporary debate on trans and posthumanism, and the history of human fertility.
In the following pages and in the gallery you can take a look at the past events and, should you have any ideas as to the theme of the next VivaMente Conference, keep an eye on the grant session and dont forget to apply!
