Centre for Venetian History and Cultural Heritage

The Science and Research Centre Koper (ZRS) is a public research institution in Koper/Capodistria, Slovenia, with an interdisciplinary profile and a commitment to linking scientific excellence with social, cultural, environmental and economic development, particularly in the Adriatic and Mediterranean region.

With ten research institutes, eleven infrastructure units and more than 150 employees, ZRS Koper brings together researchers working across history, philosophy, linguistics, social studies, kinesiology, olive growing, viticulture, environmental studies, law, behavioural economics and public health. It participates in national and international projects and promotes the transfer of knowledge to society.

Guided by its vision of becoming a Hub of Mediterranean Wisdom, ZRS Koper contributes to preserving and shaping the identity of the Mediterranean region.

Within the CSMBR network, ZRS Koper collaborates on various activities linked to the history of science and medicine, intellectual history, medical humanities, Mediterranean cultural exchanges, the shared Venetian heritage, and the work of Santorio Santorio.

This collaboration supports joint research, fellowships, conferences, publications and academic mobility, contributing regional expertise and international experience to historically grounded research.
