Founded in 1796, Brepols is an independent academic publisher with an international reputation for excellence in the humanities. Its partnership with the CSMBR includes the launch of Ars Longa: Texts and Traditions of Medicine from Antiquity to 1800, and a joint Residential Fellowship at Brepols’ Digital Classics Lab (CTLO) in Turnhout, Belgium.

Centre "Traditio Litterarum Occidentalium" (CTLO)
The CTLO (Centre “Traditio Litterarum Occidentalium”) is Brepols’ in-house Digital Classics Lab that develops and produces full-text and dictionary databases, like the Library of Latin Texts, and other ancient languages. In doing so, it continues and expands the activities of the former Cetedoc at the Université Catholique de Louvain in Louvain-la-Neuve.
Under the scholarly guidance of its founder, Prof. Paul Tombeur, and its current academic director, Prof. Toon Van Hal (KU Leuven), the CTLO academic committee further consists of Prof. Mike Kestemont, Dr Enrique Manjavacas (both University of Antwerp), Dr Nicolas De Maeyer and Prof. Lisa Devriese (both KU Leuven).
The research partnership with the CSMBR will offer fellows first-hand experience in supporting and updating a standard reference tool in digital humanities by preparing new Latin texts for inclusion, attending to both the technical and linguistic analysis of the texts and to the heuristics and redaction of relevant metadata. These Latin texts will concern medical sources to the extent available.
